My Journey to Creating The Energy Curriculum
Discover what drives my desire to bring small changes in order to create big improvements for both pupils, teachers and schools

My Journey from my dream job of Deputy Head to home schooling
After 23 years as a teacher and a Deputy Head, I found myself derailed by the system, when it failed to support my son who found school very distressing at the tender age of 4. Horrified by the lack of support, I left the career I loved, and focussed solely on my own child, following his passions playing and learning ad hoc as we went along. Absolutely no curriculum. All child lead learning, project based and fun. He is now at university, has a part time job and drives his own car, which he bought, from money gained from part-time employment and running a small business. Where 'school' made him feel that he 'couldn't', removing him from the system and home educating him proved that he indeed 'could.' Shame on the system. 126,000 children, and rising, are currently out of the system and being home educated in the UK. Plainly put, this should not be the case and, as a teacher, I should still be working in the job I loved. Instead, I’ve been out of the system for 14 years and the impact has been enormous!
Whilst home educating, as a lifelong learner, I began reading personal development books, which lead me to Life Coaching, Personality Profiling and ultimately to the Human Design System. The more I learnt, the more I realised what a fantastic set of tools I was gathering that could really help the current education system start to break free and assist teachers and children alike to thrive authentically within the environment. Schools always talk about guiding children to 'reach their full potential.' For some, this does happen, of course. But for others, it does not. It is my belief that these tools, if used appropriately, will indeed take us a step closer to that shared goal. Let’s really help everyone reach their full potential!
The Energy Curriculum has been designed around Human Design, personal development and life coaching knowledge, combined with my own experience of the system and home education. Being able to understand energetic blueprints, I believe, will provide key information for teachers that will help them with teaching and the children with learning. This approach acknowledges that when pupils and teachers understand how they naturally operate, learning can become even more relevant, engaging, meaningful, and aligned with children's interests, how they work and their unique purpose, bringing excitement and a desire to learn back to the classroom.
The current education system often overlooks individuality, leading to disengagement, behavioural issues, lower grades and an overarching feeling of ‘I can’t’, when they truly can. Many are now feeling ‘lost’ when they leave school, without a real plan of what they want to do in life. They are going with the flow of others ideas ( nurture) rather than truly understanding self, being inspired by life and having a plan moving forward that brings them joy (nature). What we see in today’s world reflects the lack of fulfilment, success, visibility and voice that many people feel.
I believe we all agree that it is time for a major rethink for everyone involved in teaching and learning. Many are stepping up, putting their neck on the block and fighting the system that seems no longer fit for purpose. Heads are straying from the path and bringing in new ideas, new concepts, new thinking and new hope to all involved. Educational movements are appearing. Revolutions at educational levels are beginning.
The Energy Curriculum, at its very basic level, can offer immediate tweaks that will improve many aspects of schooling. The starting mission is to guide teachers in revolutionising the way children are taught thus creating learning environments that really do foster individuality and authenticity. The overarching vision is to create new schools with new thinking, casting aside the current system for a more holistic, energy-based learning environment that celebrates the authentic self.

- Learning environments where every child is seen, valued, and honoured for their uniqueness
- Pupils who absolutely love learning & teachers who absolutely love teaching
- A move away from these increasingly detrimental labels which create limiting beliefs
- A move towards celebration of natural talents and abilities through detailed self-awareness.

It's not about fitting into a system
Education should not be about fitting into a system. It should not be about exam results. It should not be about making children ‘do’ subjects they just aren’t interested in. It should not be about comparing yourself to others and feeling less. It should be about discovering and celebrating who you are, knowing and cultivating your strengths, your passions and your interests. It should be about knowing how you thrive and what makes you feel fabulous! By changing the thinking around education, we can change the future of the world.
Come on, let’s create a world where every child and every teacher feels energised, purposeful, and inspired by being their authentic self. Let’s create a world where people are happy, where they are living life as their authentic selves, doing what they love for the benefit of all.
We can do this.
I truly believe that my journey from teacher to Deputy Head and upper management, to homeschooling mum, was part of a much bigger plan. A plan to help me see the failings within the system and to lead me to think about ways in which they can be fixed so that every child wants to be at school, loving learning and every teacher wants to be there too, feeling valued and fabulous!
